My Story
I was born and raised in the capital city of East Java, Surabaya twenty seven years ago. I came from a big happy family with three brothers and a sister. I am the youngest. At the age of twenty two i graduated from college in Surabaya and it took no longer time i was accepted in one of the private companies in Surabaya as a secretary. Good salary, nice office and environtment made me enjoy my work. I worked for almost four years and suddenly i began to think of something which was very important for my future, marriage!. I had of course a boyfriend, the perfect one for me. He asked me to live with him and finally we got married in 2004. Just like another modern wifes who lived in a big city I had a dream to have best achievements in my life. But I came to the point where I was faced by two important choices. The first one was I continue to live in Surabaya while my husband worked outside Jakarta or I moved and lived with him as a housewife. The second choice was mine where I started to write my story.I arrived in this small town 6 years ago. It was such a nice town with small population, surrounded by mountain so u could inhale fresh air every morning and sometimes it was hazy at dawn. It was known as Rangkasbitung and located near Jakarta the capital city of Indonesia. It took two hours away to get here by car or three hours by train. If you drove a car you would see some of common point of view along the road such as bumpy and winding road, underbrush and many traditional markets instead of intercity buses and trucks. On the other way if you rode by train you could see a lot of amazing things inside. I never thought for the first time in my life that i would go into that train. It was not only horrible but also terrible at all. I paid only Rp. 2500,- each person for one way trip!!!. Could u imagine how was the train look like? The train itself was improperly used and it was called langsam. I had no idea where the word langsam came from. There were so many broken windows, seats, and even the doors were stuck!. It was crowded inside the train. The first time I got in, it smelled musty. The passengers and stowaway were jostle each other including me!. There were no enough air for all of us to breathe, moreover the putrid smell of garbage made my head fell dizzy. Children and old men went back and forth in the aisle all day long earned their living selling such as cigarettes, eggs, sandals, hairpins, etc.
On the other hand there was an express train called Merak Jaya. Of course it was much better than langsam. It took three hours to get into this town by langsam and of course the express one was faster.
I lived in a small, simple leased house and crowded settlement. But on the other hand it was so quiet no entertainment at all such as cafe, cinema, or even mall! which made me bored easily. The people here especially my neighbours were friendly and most of them worked as a government employee.
As a good wife I cleaned up my house such as mooping the floors, cooking main course and also making our favourite evening snacks. Almost everyday I spent all day long in my kitchen since I didnt have any experience in cooking. I remembered the first time I went to the traditional market and bought some foodstuff to make sambal terasi and lalaban for lunch the taste was so awful. I learnt cooking by myself by trying new recipe I had taken from internet but still I asked my mom or my mother in law just to make sure. I also attended arisan both in my neighborhood or in my husbands' office every month and recitation of the Koran.
I remembered in 2007, if i was not mistaken, Giant express supermarket was built. I said to myself...auwww thats preety cool...finally there will be one big supermarket here of course with many variety of foods and beverages. But that moment couldn't make me satisfied. I still felt bored. This is it. I have to make up my mind now!I cant live like this.
Finally on November 2008 we decided to buy a new house in Serang, The Capital City of Banten. A new house..a new environtment..and i was so excited to make a lot of friends. Yup..i feel free here, what i mean is i can do many things here. I've been living here for almost two years and I think i enjoy my time as a house wife a lot.
